Annie Mae Goodou

November 14, 1951 - January 27, 2020

Obituary

On November 14, 1951, the home of Mallie and Jessie Bolden was blessed with the birth of their sixth child, a beautiful daughter they named, Annie Mae. Born in Braggs, Oklahoma, Annie attended Black Jack Baptist Church at an early age. The family relocated to Muskogee and became members of Canaan Baptist Church. In 1969, Annie graduated from Manual Training High School. Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Sylvester “Red” Goodou, and moved to Tulsa. During the next few years, Annie and Red became the proud parents of three sons, Michael, Marcus, and Marvin. They loved their boys without measure and not only nurtured them, but also fostered nieces, Tosha and Tonya Goodou for several years.

Annie worked in the food service sector for Tulsa Public Schools until after her retirement. She will be remembered most for her amusing sense of humor and generosity. Only those who really knew her can truly estimate her worth – she had a heart of pure gold. Even through a difficult illness, she remained steadfast in her faith and brightened the hearts and lives of those she came in contact with – she never complained.

Annie Mae Goodou, in her 68th year, quietly slipped away from her temporary home and now abides with the Lord in an everlasting resting place.

Welcoming Annie to her eternal home is her husband of 31 years, Sylvester “Red” Goodou; parents, Jessie and Mallie Bolden; brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Mabel Bolden; brother, Billie Bolden, sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tommy Williams; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rosa and Gus Goodou; brothers-in-law, Ishmael King, Myron Ray Sanders, Gusteal “Poochy” Goodou and Lawrence Earl Goodou; sisters-in-law, Margaret Ann Goodou and Erma Jean Goodou and a niece, Tonya Goodou.

Precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Michael Goodou (Yvette); Marcus Goodou (Leslie) and Marvin Goodou (Leslie) all of Tulsa, OK; sisters, Jestine Johnson (Jack) of Muskogee, OK; Ida Sanders of Kansas City, MO; and Ruby King of Muskogee, OK; sister-in-law, Loreice Cooper of Tulsa, OK; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Ray and James Goodou of Tulsa, OK; and her dear friend, Donna Washington and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on January 31, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
