Obituary

Beulah Mae Childs, age 83, departed this life peacefully on June 10, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on October 6, 1942, in Tullahassee, Oklahoma, to Curtis and Loretta Leathers. Named in honor of her beloved maternal aunt, Beulah carried her name with grace, strength, and dignity throughout her life’s journey.

Beulah received her education and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1960. She later dedicated her career to serving others through her work in the medical field, where she provided compassionate care and support to countless individuals throughout her years of service.

In 1961, Beulah united in marriage with Walter Childs. Together, they built a loving family and shared many years of devotion until his passing. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved fiercely and nurtured with wisdom, strength, and unwavering support.

A faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Beulah’s life was rooted in faith, prayer, and service. She was known for her warm spirit, strong will, and memorable sayings, including, “I’m the captain of the ship” and “Hey now, Brown Cow,” expressions that brought smiles and laughter to those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Childs; her sons, Douglas Childs and Anthony Childs; her grandchildren, Vincent Jr., Reshea Ajeh, and Vincent Ajeh III; and her parents, Curtis and Loretta Leathers.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her nine children: Walter Childs (Marion), William Childs (Cory), Marcus Childs, Dallas Childs (Donna), Michael Childs, Pearl Childs Knox, Kim Childs, Celetia Ajeh, and Carmelita Childs. She also leaves behind 39 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Beulah will be remembered for her strength, resilience, unwavering faith, sense of humor, and deep love for her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, caregiver, and friend whose life touched countless people. Her legacy lives on through the generations she helped shape and the many lives she impacted through her kindness, wisdom, and compassion.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, lessons, and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. We take comfort in knowing that her earthly journey is complete and that she now rests in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served.
