Obituary

Booker T. Murphy, Jr. was born on June 7, 1933 to Booker T. Murphy, Sr. and Mattie Johnson Murphy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the 2nd of 3 children.

Booker graduated high school in 1951. He then joined the U.S. Army serving his country from 1953-1955. After being honorable discharged, Booker married the late Arnetha Palmer. In 1972, Booker married Marie Martin.

Booker was a loving and caring father to his children: Kay Donna Phillips of Tulsa, William Ashley of Spain, Terry Johnson of Tulsa, Patrick Murphy of Tulsa, Palmer Murphy of Germany, Harvey Martin of Colorado, and Marnette Smith of Tulsa.

Booker was raised in the Church of Christ and lived his life faithfully. God blessed him with a fully life doing what he loved, singing praises to the Lord and bringing souls to the church. He committed himself to teaching others in the word and deed. He encouraged young and old to get up, do the right thing for your soul, body, and mind. He loved spending time with his family, community, and church.

On September 6, 2024, Booker was called to his Heavenly Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Booker and Mattie Murphy, and siblings, Betty Ware and Ruben Murphy.

Those left to cherish his precious memory include his wife, children, grandchildren, extended relatives and friends. Booker loved everyone and we loved him.

Visitation will take place at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home on Friday, September 13th from 2pm-5pm.

Services will be held at The Park Church of Christ on Saturday, September 14th, at 10am.
