Obituary

Carrie “Earlene” (Chartier) Cather was born on September 10, 1933 at home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Her parents were Carl William Chartier and Trudie Ethyl Davenport Irion Chartier.

At age 17 “Earlene” graduated from East Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and soon after married Donald Oliver “DOC” Cather on August 16, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  They had 2 sons.

“Earlene” went to a Tulsa Business School after getting married and graduated from her program as an accountant.  She worked full time after her degree, first for the Key Stone Damn and after for the Power Company Union, where she stayed working until she took retirement.

In 1956 “Earlene” and “DOC” moved to Owasso where they built their dream home on 2 ½ acres, where “Earlene” has lived ever since that time.  She spent most of her time, prior to her illness, enjoying gardening, yard work, cooking & baking and lots and lots of time with family, neighbors, friends and even strangers.  In fact, you could ask anyone around about “Earlene” or “Grandma” and they would all tell you how giving and kind she was to everyone she met.

“Earlene” earned her wings and took her place in Heaven on February 21, 2017 at 10:00a while in her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Today, we all smile and celebrate her wonderful life.  “Earlene”, “Grandma”, “Mom”, “Aunt Nina”, “Neighbor” & “Beloved Friend”, we know you lived a life full of love and full of life.  You have left each of us with memories that we will cherish forever and each of us will forever hold a piece of you within us for all of our days.  Close your eyes, and listen, and I know you each will hear her say, when asked “How are you”…… “Short, Fat and Ornery (and a little bit sassy)”

“Earlene” was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Trudie Chartier.  Two sisters, Melba Barnes and Beverly Jones.  Her twin sister, Alene Denny.  Her husband, Donald Oliver Cather (“DOC”).  One son, David Cather.  Her daughter-in-law Patty Cather-Cobb and two great grand dogs, Chloe and Sydney.

“Earlene” is survived by, her grand daughter and full time caretaker, Cherlyn Cather of Owasso.  Her daily companion and great grand dog Carmen.  Her son and daughter-in-law, Dan & Patsy Cather of Millsap, Tx.  Her granddaughter & husband, Angela & Dustin Reudelhuber of Tulsa, as well as two more great grand dogs Bella & Zoe.  Her grandson, David Cather of  Collinsville.  Her sister and husband Paula & Jeff Dunham of Jennings.  One brother & wife, Roy & Judy Chartier of Tulsa.   And Lots and Lots of other family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who all claimed her as their own.

When love is very deep in a persons heart for someone they truly cared for, it whom seem that your actual heart has truly been broken as mentioned in Psalms 147:3. Pour out your concerns to the Almighty he will sustain you as he has promised. My deep sorrow to the Cather family.

To the Family of C. Earlene Cather, I hope that you find comfort, just as I have, when I loss my Father, Sister, my Big Ma Ma, and Grandmother, in the God of all comfort, Jehovah, (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) in his word the Bible, in Psalms 34:18: Jehovah is close to the broken-hearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit. God's word also says in Isaiah 25:8: He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces….For Jehovah himself has spoken it. (Psalms 83:18; Titus 1:2) Isaiah 33:24; Revelation 21:3-5; /. John 5:28,29; John 11:25,26; Acts 24:15. These are some powerful Scriptures, and I have faith that this is what God's Kingdom under Jesus Christ rulership will accomplish in the near future for all those who love righteousness. The true God, promises in his word, in Psalms 37:11,29:..The meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace, 29: The righteous will possess the earth And they will live forever on it. Psalms 104:5; Psalms 115:16; Ecclesiastes 1:4; Job 33:25; Isaiah 35:5,6; Isaiah 65:21,22; Psalms 37:34. (New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)
