Obituary

Carolyn Sue Crabtree, better known as Nanny, passed away August 8, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Carolyn was born February 22, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Nyle & Geneva Sanders. She worked many years as a Juvenile Affairs Officer for the State of Oklahoma, L.E. Rader Center. She was a mother to many and often referred to herself as a “House Mother” to the children of Rader. She was a loving, caring woman with a strong will that her family could always count on. She adored her family and she especially loved to shop for them! She was known to buy Christmas gifts at all times of the year and would stockpile them, just waiting for Christmas to arrive. Carolyn loved music of all kinds and it was quite likely that if you went to her home, on any given day that you would hear the music before you ever got to the house, particularly in her younger days. Carolyn was known to most people as “Nanny”, and this Nanny is going to be missed tremendously by her family, most especially her husband James; her 2 children, Kellie Mays and James Crabtree; her 12 adoring grandchildren; 8 wonderful great-grandchildren; beloved sister, Virginia Hardin, and brother, Kenneth Sanders; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family & friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; and two daughters, Darla Stanford and Carla Staires.

  2. So many great memories of Carolyn spending time at our house, dancing to all the popular songs that she and my sister Pat would buy in the late 50's and early 60's, she was a best friend to my sister and the whole family. She will be missed by all that knew her.
