Obituary

Cecil M. Stephens was the 10th child born to Charley Mack and Tennie Bell (Patterson) Stephens on April 27, 1930 in Sapulpa, Ok. Cecil attended Grade School in Sapulpa and graduated from Booker T Washington High School in Tulsa, Ok. He went on to attend Langston University and was introduced to his roommate Dr. Ernest Holloway, who later became the president of Langston University. Cecil left Langston to serve two years in Army and three years in the Army reserve unit.Cecil accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church and he received a certificate in 2001 for being a member for 50 plus years. He retired from McDonald Douglass in Tulsa and received a monetary award for a patent creation that saved the company thousands of dollars. Some of his skills included electrical/mechanical engineering, carpentry and real estate. After leaving McDonald Douglas he became a real estate investor which evolved into Cecil becoming a landlord for the properties he acquired. Cecil enjoyed eating out and barbecue was one of his favorites along with watermelon. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was never shy when it came to offering advise on how you should repair things around the house and often did it for you. He will always be remembered by family and friends as “Mr. Fix It.” He is preceded in death by both parents his 4 brothers and 5 sisters.Cecil leaves to cherish his memory, Nieces: Quindene Cyrus of Ardmore, OK, Peaches Wynn of San Diego, CA, Valdez Farley of Tulsa, OK, Cecelia Stephens of Tulsa, OK, Regina Gray of Tulsa, OK; Nephews:  Delbert Stephens of Ashland, MO, Donald Stephens of Bristow, OK, Ronald Stephens of Tulsa, OK, Karl Stephens of Oklahoma City, OK along with a host of Great Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
