Obituary

Celeste Irene Hanson Locke, 35, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma died unexpectedly following a surgical procedure for Chiari I malformation/Cardiac Arrest. Celeste was a courageous mother, caregiver and nurse. Celeste, our hero, left this world on November 22, 2020, still taking  care of others by donating her organs so other’s may live.

If you were lucky enough to be present when she looked into her children’s faces, the pure joy radiating from her would blind you. Her focus in life was God and her children. She wanted nothing more for them to have a wonderful life.

Celeste, meaning Heavenly, was a beautiful soul with a smile that would light up the room! She had a way of listening, supporting and cheering up everyone around her. She would find those that needed help and empower them to get through troubled times. As a child, Celeste loved gymnastics and basketball. She graduated Salutatorian of her senior class in Checotah, Oklahoma and continued her education to a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Most recently, Celeste was working towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner. She was an ER Nurse/first responder where once again she touched so many lives. Celeste loved music, dancing and going out to have a good time. She would listen to many different music genres including Christian, rap, old rock-n-roll, country but Ed Sheeran was her favorite. She loved sports especially the Miami Dolphins and the OKC Thunder.

Celeste was brilliant, witty, silly and had little common sense sometimes but we all loved that about her! She could make split second decisions for her patient’s but could not always make practical everyday decisions in her personal life like, “going out to eat.”

Celeste had a passion for animals/dogs. She started with Benji and then kept adopting until she had 4 of her furry friends. She would go out of her way to help any stray animal that came her way. She would tell you, “I have a way of communicating with dogs and all they want to do is love us unconditionally.”

Celeste attended Life Church and her faith in God was unstoppable. The week before she passed, she was so upset with herself for missing her daily bible study due to being ill. It was her first day missed in over 400 days.

Celeste was preceded in death by her nana, Carole Ellen O’Neill who passed on October 11, 2016 and brother, Michael Hanson.

Celeste is survived by her two daughters, Scotlyn Paige Fowler age 16 and Addalyn Alexi Locke age 10; nephew, Kyle Lee Thames; father, Gerald Lee Grandstaff; mother, Kelley Ann Bailey; sister, Kristen Marie Grandstaff; stepfather, Matthew W. Bailey; stepsister, Samantha T. Bailey; stepbrother, Wilhelm A. Bailey; stepnephew, Braylon Matthew Bailey; and her four dogs: Benji, Milo, Kelo, and Riley.

Celeste would say to all of  us, “My new journey will take me to that wonderful place called Heaven, where eternal life is guaranteed. There will be music, laughter, dogs and love! Food is delicious and I will never gain an ounce. Please don’t cry for me, be happy!”
