Obituary

Cyrus William Hoover was born to David Cyrus Hoover and Charlotte Francis (Manning) on August 22, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated in 1962 from Governor’s Academy and Bowdoin College in 1966. He served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army in Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he met his future wife, Deana Stewart, through a mutual friend.  They were married on August 8, 1969 and moved to Denver, Colorado. The first winter of their marriage, they were called on by Jehovah’s Witnesses and began to study the Bible. Cy was deeply impressed by the detail of Bible prophecies and their fulfillment. Cy and Deana were baptized together in 1972 and shortly thereafter moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Over the next few years they had three children, David (wife Inna), Kayrstan (husband Kyle Lewis) and Margo.  Later, their son, David, gave them a grandson, Jakob. After becoming one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Cy devoted himself as a full time volunteer minister, serving as a Bible teacher from his baptism until the end of his life. He really loved his spiritual brothers and sisters and serving Jehovah in any capacity. He counted it as a privilege to help with disaster relief in Louisiana as well as the building of Kingdom Halls all over Oklahoma. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf and watching sports. Cy was always on the go, travelling to visit friends and family with his wife.Cy had many wonderful qualities. He was accepting of others no matter their shortcomings and never thought of himself as better than anyone else. He was a generous man with a big heart. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and the joy he brought to others.
