Obituary
Daniel Lapez Scarborough was born the third son of George and Dorothy (McHenry) Scarborough on January 9, 1965, in Redbird, Oklahoma. For his entire life he would rather be referred to as “Chico” instead of his birth name.
Chico understood the love of God. He professed a love for Christ at an early age while attending Wharton Chapel in Redbird, Oklahoma.
His early education was at Miller Washington Elementary. Upon its closing, he transferred to and graduated from Porter Consolidated in 1983.
Chico spent many years working in the concrete business with Newton Brothers. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and cruising the town.
After a horrible attack several years ago, Chico was left partially paralyzed on one side and with very little speech. Although it was hard sometimes to understand what he was saying, you always tell when he was singing and praising God. He never lost his love of God and family.
On October 24, 2023, another horrible attack occurred. Chico fought hard but succumbed to his injuries and passed on November 6, 2023. He was met at Heaven’s gate by his parents, grandparents, stepfather and a host of aunts and uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son; Marcus Scarborough; brothers, Everett (Angie) Scarborough, Gregory (Jan) Scarborough Raymond (Rozdi) Collins, Frank (Andradia) Newton; sisters, Tracy Newton, Carla Faye Newton and Nicole Newton, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 5pm-8pm at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home.
Services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Redbird, Oklahoma at 10AM.
