Obituary

On December 16, 1976 a handsome baby boy was born to Gwendlyn Harding and Richard Briggs, they named him Dominique Marquis Briggs. His mother called him “Lilman.” Dominique accepted Christ and was baptized  by Pastor Tyler at Greater Grace Church. He attended Gilcrese Middle School and McClain High School and later went to welding school. His end profession was plumbing and construction. Dominique was a loving caring and giving person whom everyone loved dearly. He was very compassionate about all his children whom he loved dearly. He was married twice; first, to Laketa Miller and then to Debrecka Fields whom he shared many years with until his death. He will be remembered by his charming smile and caring ways that touched so many lives.

 

He is preceded in death by his father: Richard Briggs; mother: Gwendlyn Harding; grandmothers: Charlesetta Jones and Stella Lee; grandfathers: David Lee Harding and Nathan Briggs; aunts: Selena Harding and Anna Harding; uncles: Larry Harding and James McClain; cousins: Kenyon McClain and his favorite cousin/brother who he couldn’t live without, Wayne Briggs “Peanut.”

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife: Debrecka Fields-Briggs; children: Dominique Daniels, Keanna Miller, Dominique Briggs, Jr., Samuel Howard, De’marreion Aldredge, My’Rone Aldredge, Marquis Briggs, Terrance Briggs, Dominique Briggs III, Daniel Briggs, Danielle Briggs, Demarco Fields, Demetrius Fields, Kobe Hurt, Ayri Briggs, Ayrus Briggs four brothers: Randall Ross, Terrell Harding, Terrance Harding and Phillip Wright; two sisters:  Kenya McClain and Kiva Ross-Overstreet and  a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

  1. Matthew 5:4 – Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Our sincere condolence and prayers are extended to the family of Dominique Briggs. We know that each of you, including our sons (Phillip and Jeremy), are saddened and heart-broken over his sudden and tragic death.
