Obituary

Don McCoy was a dedicated and loving family man. He loved his wife and his children with every fiber of his being. Don’s brothers and sisters were always near and dear in his heart even if miles separated them. Don never met a stranger; everyone was treated as a friend he hadn’t met yet. When you were a friend of Don’s you were a friend for life.

Don was truly a master craftsman, there wasn’t a finer carpenter ever. His finish work was true art. To say he was handy didn’t begin to describe what he could do, Don could fix anything. Don was so irreplaceable, his employer decided when Don retired, he would close-up shop. There was no replacing, Don.

Don most certainly had a green thumb. His garden was always bountiful. His yard, both in Alaska and Oklahoma, the lawn and the flowers were nothing less than picturesque. He enjoyed toiling in the soil and seeing what he could grow. Don enjoyed making sauerkraut, especially if he grew the cabbage, it was the best sauerkraut you’ve ever tasted. He also made salsa from vine ripened tomatoes that was simply delicious.

One of the joys he looked forward to every year was hunting time. Some of Don’s fondest memories were around hunting trips whether moose hunting in Alaska with Bill and friends or hunting and camping in the deer woods with his brothers and having Mary Jane there with him. After Mary Jane passed, Tina went out to the deer woods with him, and he could not have been prouder to have her there with him. For Don, family was everything.

Don McCoy, a faithful and loving husband, a devoted father, and a fabulous friend. Find peace in knowing he is once again reunited with the love of his life, Mary Jane. Together they are whole and at home with our heavenly Father.
