Obituary
HOPKINS – Donald Glenn “Hoppy”,was born June 12, 1931 in Henryetta, OK to John Robert and Cully Hopkins. He passed away quietly on Sunday, November 25, 2007. He grew up and attended public schools in Russell, KS. He was a debater on the state championship team, was student body president and graduated with honors. He completed a degree in Political Science at Kansas State University and enrolled at the Law School at Kansas University. He was commissioned a first Lieutenant in the Air Force. He completed his first tour of duty and attended law school at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1958. There after, he completed a second tour of duty attaining the rank of Major. In 1964 his family moved to Tulsa, he joined the law firm of Rucker and Tabor, ultimately becoming a partner. He practiced law for 43 years. During the past few years Don traveled extensively with family and friends, including trips to Egypt, Europe, a tour of Revolutionary War sites and his favorite trips, fishing and traveling the Baja in Mexico. Don will be remembered for his keen intellect, dry sense of humor, non-judgmental attitude and willingness to help his fellow man. He was an avid Sooner football fan and loved to watch Jayhawk Basketball. He was preceded in death by his loving parents. He is survived by: his 3 children, Beth Walker, Tulsa, Sean Hopkins, Tulsa, and Amy Papantonio of Denver; his brother, Bob of California; and his grandchildren, Frankie and Tony Medina, Owen, Emma, Jacob, and Noah Hopkins and Mia Papantonio. Viewing will be held 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.,Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2007 at Butler Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Tulsa County Bar Foundation, 1446 S. Boston, Tulsa 74119 to benefit the Bar’s Christmas Programs. Services are under the direction of Cremation Society of Oklahoma. 599-7337.
