Obituary

A baby girl was born 02-17-1940 to Mabel Marie and Henry Wm. Hurvey Jr. They chose to name her Doris Kearney. Doris was born in Alsuma, OK which is now called Tulsa, OK. She attended school in Tulsa, OK, and then furthered her education in NJ, in the secretarial field. Doris left OK, to move to NJ where she met and married Roland Kearney August 12, 1961. Doris had three biological daughters, Patrice McCray, Felicia Tennyson, LaNene Barnett, and one biological son, Roland Kearney Jr., 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Doris Hurvey had one biological sister Georgene Sayles. Doris had a dress alteration shop in NJ along with her mother. Doris learned to play the piano self taught by asking the Lord to show her in every key. Doris got saved at an outpouring revival, then joined Love Chapel Church of God in Christ, Inc., under the leadership of Mother Princella Sheppard in the year 1972, who was originally 1st Lady, and then stepped into the role of the leader. Doris remained a member when Mother Princella Sheppard then turned the church over to a newly appointed to pastor ship, Evangelist Wesley Gamble Sr. in 1973, who then changed the name to Bible Way Church of God in Christ, Inc. Doris began to knock on doors and witness in area Tulsa neighborhoods to better their lives. Doris preached at every opportunity by Gods directions, including street ministry. Doris included her children in the passing out of flyers on street corners along with her mother. Doris evangelized in many different states. Later years Doris Kearney became a licensed Missionary under the Pastor ship of Bishop Lee V. Broom on or around 1978 at First Church of God in Christ, Inc. Doris Kearney went home to be with the Lord at 12:00 p.m. on 7-12-12 at her home as she wished would happen. God rest her soul. We love you.
