Obituary

Dorothy Mae (Highsmith) Ellis, 98, of Tulsa peacefully went to her heavenly home on Friday, August 21, 2020.

Dorothy was born to the late Everett and Estella Highsmith at home in Tulsa on January 10, 1922. She married her best friend, Jasper Ellis on June 26, 1942. Dorothy worked as a church secretary for many years at Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church. Upon her retirement she and Jasper traveled around the United States.

Dorothy had a great love for the Lord that she shared with her family, friends, and many young girls she mentored in Sunday School and at Falls Creek. She is best remembered for her hugs, which were highly sought out by friends and family and could brighten anyone’s day! Her favorite past times included fellowship with her family and friends, sharing her famous tater-tot casserole, and playing dominos. She loved stuffed bears, amassing a collection of over 300! She was very patriotic and immensely proud of her family and friends that served and continue to serve in the US military.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Jim (Marilynn) Ellis of Tulsa, OK; and Larry (Connie) Ellis of Rogers, AR; her grandchildren Rhonda Cornett of Rogers, AR; Michael (Ann) Ellis of Kingsville, TX; Beau (Jennifer) Ellis of Stillwater, OK; and Jimmy (Mindy) Ellis of Broken Arrow, OK; her great grandchildren Ryan Cornett of Rogers, AR; Noelani Vesperas of MD; Killian Ellis of FL; Hannah (Tyler) Jackson of Rogers, AR; Abby Ellis of Calimesa, CA; Kylee Ellis of Broken Arrow, OK; Matthew Cornett of Los Angeles, CA; Mackenzie Ellis of Kingsville, TX; and Nathaniel Ellis of Kingsville, TX; and her great, great grandchildren: Ava Vesperas of MD; Kooper Jackson of Rogers, AR; and Keegan Jackson of Rogers, AR.
