Obituary

Dorothy Woods Fox, 88, passed away on June 9, 2011 in a nursing home in Tonkawa, OK. She was born in NY on Oct. 28, 1922 to Mary and Stanly Woods. In 1945 Dottie married the love of her life, Jack Fox. They were married for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her favorite furry companion, Shotzie, part time actress and part time dog. Dottie is survived by her beloved twin daughters, Cindy (husband John Michael) Warburton of Tonkawa, OK and Cissy (husband Guy) Leonard of Ponca City, OK and numerous friends, nieces, and nephews. One of Dottie’s greatest joys was being involved with the Midland Community Theatre as a volunteer for 58 years. She served as the Volunteer Coordinator in the early 80s. She was their Millenary Chairman – honoring her mother’s legacy from 1998 until “retiring” in 2007 and won a state award for her designs from Texas Nonprofit Theatres. Dottie ran the first Bar Crew for Summer Mummers and the Fox Family was honored for theyr Distinguished Service in 1995. Dottie was inducted into the Mule Train Gallery in 2008. She was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Order of HamHocks, the backstage service wing for MCT, and was the HamHock of the Year in 1979. Dottie was also active in community work with Girl Scouts and more recently with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, The Maverick Players, and Casa de Amigos. She had been a passionate duplicate bridge player with the Allison Bridge Club. Dottie will be forever in our memory as a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, aunt and friend. No services are planned, she will be cremated. In her memory, donations may be made to The Midland Community Theatre, the Girl Scouts or charity of your choice.
