Obituary

Douglas Wade Reynolds passed away on August 30, 2014 at Saint John Hospital, where on November 19, 1938 he was born to Howard and Yvonne Wharton. He is survived by: his companion and wife, Carol Reynolds; daughter, Angela Slicker; brother, Dennis Wharton; sisters, Dee Anne Allen and Kenny Jo McDaniel; uncle, Les Wharton; and close cousin, Dick Walker. Doug was raised by his grandparents, Wade and Fern Reynolds and changed his last name to “Reynolds” in their honor. In 1956 he graduated from Tulsa Central High School and later attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. In 1959 he enlisted in the army and served on active duty for two years, with much of that time posted in Germany, then honorably discharged. A successful business owner and free-lance entrepreneur, Doug never failed to impress those lucky enough to have known him with his wit and sense of humor. He very much enjoyed spending time with friends, engaging in bitterly contested card games of Gin, at the conclusion of which the winners and losers would shake hands and settle up on their penny ante wagers. Much of the time during the summer months, Doug would go to Grand Lake where he would socialize with friends and business associates who had moved to the lake after retirement. Doug was unique and very special. He will be missed by many and played his last hand of GIN! A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home, located at 2103 East 3rd Street in Tulsa.
