Obituary
On March 30, 1950 a handsome baby boy was born to Earnest Bledsoe and Vera Durant Bledsoe in Stonebluff, OK. He was given the name Earnest Cleveland Bledsoe.
He married his high school sweetheart, Debra Dixon, whom he started dating at age 16 (Debra age 13). To this union, 3 children were born, Andrena, LaDonna, and Melvin. He was brought up in Pentecostal Holiness under the leadership of Reverend Mayweather. He attended Booker T. Washington and Haskell High School.
At a young age he began racing cars. He had a unique love for muscle cars, especially his 1967 Chevy Chevelle. Karate, boxing, and farming also played a big part in his life. He was a certified welder and a self taught auto mechanic. He was employed by Flint Steele and then on to Crane Carrier. He worked at Crane Carrier for 45 years before retiring in 2016. Since his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed teaching them about the farming, fixing on cars, and his old school dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father- in-law (Elmer Dixon), one sister (Carolyn Johnson), five brothers, Theodias, Michael,Donnell, Terrance, and Freddie Lee Bledsoe. 1 brother-in-law, Cedric Dixon, two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Brittany Bledsoe, and 1 great-grandson Brian Mayfield, Jr.
Who Earnest leaves to cherish his memories are, his wife, Debra, 4 daughters, Andrena (Mel), LaDonna, Lacrecia, and Chantis (Andrew). 3 sons, Marvin, Steven, and Melvin. 5 sisters, Catrena, Lahoma, Nahoma, Mattie, and Earnestine. 6 brothers, Fred (Kate), Donald Lee, Elvin (Myra), Bobby, Arthur, and Vernell (Dawn). Mother-in-law, Nathella Dixon. 4 sisters-in-law, Sheila Jackson, Regina Bankston, Paulette and Donna Dixon. 3 brothers-in-law, Ralph Johnson, Lewis Hopson and Billy Dixon, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
There will be a public viewing on July 7, 2023 from 5-8pm.
His service will be held at First Baptist Church of Haskell at 11am on the following day Saturday, July 8, 2023.
