Obituary

Edwin Charles Bell, 57, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away May 5, 2012 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born December 15, 1954 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Bruce Sr. and Jerletha (Townsell) Bell. Edwin attended Ellis Walker Woods Elementary, Marian Anderson Junior High and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1973. He continued his formal education at The University of Oklahoma. During his college stay, he pledged into the Greek Fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. He completed his formal education, graduating in 1976, obtaining his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, Edwin worked a few odd jobs until he accepted a position in the mailroom at American Airlines in 1977. Not being one to settle for less, he began taking additional classes offered by the company as a means of working his way up through the ranks. On September 18, 2002, Edwin received a certificate of appreciation for 13 years of “perfect attendance.” After 26 years of service, he left American Airlines as a Senior Materials Analyst Supervisor. Throughout his life, Poopee enjoyed football, basketball, fishing, playing dominos and planning reunions for The Classes of 1973. Poopee was the father of three daughters, Tina, Kamika, and Kimberly. Pawpaw Bell was the proud grandfather of Micah and Elyce whom he affectionately names “Bam-Bam” and “Pebbles’. He spent the last six years of his life with Joan Shockley who loved and took care of him until he was called home. Edwin “Poopee” is preceded in death by his mother, Jerletha Jeffery and brother, Bruce C. Bell, Jr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: Bruce Sr., father, and Pamela Bell, stepmother, Tulsa. Daughters: Tina Naff, Okla. City, Kamika Bell, Tulsa, and Kimberly Bell, Illinois; sister, Carolyn Bell-Alfred, Tulsa; two grandchildren: Micah Knighten, Okla. City, and Elyce Harris, Tulsa. Other loved ones include: two nephews, three nieces, four great-nephews, one great-niece, and a special Girlfriend, Joan Mason-Shockley, all of Tulsa, OK; a host of cousins and an abundance of friends. Viewing will be Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home from 10:00am-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Friday, May 11, 2012 at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
