Obituary

Ichie “Michiko” Yamamoto Dozier passed from this life on Tuesday, August 22, 2022 at the age of 102.

She was born in Okayama, Japan to Yoshizo Aoyagi and Sugako Yamamoto on January 25, 1920. She attended Sanyo Gakuen, an all-girls private school, and was the captain of her volleyball and basketball teams. After graduating from high school, she traveled to Manchuria where she met and married Rikiya Tsujino who was working in the Japanese Film Industry.  At the end of World War II, she lost two daughters, Akiko and Keiko. After the war, she moved and went to work near Tachikawa Air Force Base.  A few years later, she met William Dozier and in 1959, they were married. Bill and Michiko moved and lived in numerous states before settling down in Oklahoma.

 

Survived by sons, Paul and Robert Dozier of Tulsa, son Koichiro Tsujino of Japan, grandsons Drew and Will Dozier of Tulsa, grandson Riki Tsujino and granddaughter Patricia Tsujino of Japan and three great grandchildren.

 

The family would like to thank her loving friends and family who had a long and meaningful relationship with Michiko.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 2, 2022 at Butler-Stumpff and Dyer Funeral Home, 2103 E. 3rd St., Tulsa (918-499-8787).

  1. Paul and Bobby, we’re so sorry for your loss. Your mom was an indomitable presence. We were always in awe of all she’d done and lived through and her outlook on life. She was quite a person and we’re glad we got to know her.
