Ida Mae Byers was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, best friend, and caretaker whose presence brought light, strength, and love to all who knew her.
Ida was born on January 30, 1935, to the late Memphis Trimiar and Gussie Lucille Shade. She grew up in a large and loving household as one of 12 siblings, all of whom she cherished dearly. From a young age, Ida displayed a nurturing spirit, dedicating her life to caring for others. She lovingly tended to her parents and later helped raise not only her nieces and nephews but also the grandchildren of her brothers and sisters.
Family was always at the heart of Ida’s life. She was more than a relative—she was the foundation, the glue, and the comfort that held everyone together. Whether through her warm presence, encouraging words, or quiet acts of kindness, she made those around her feel valued and loved.
Ida was also known for her strength and passion. While she had a heart full of love, she never hesitated to stand firm and speak her truth. She didn’t take any mess, and her boldness was just as much a part of her legacy as her gentleness. She was the definition of resilience, honesty, and faith.
Her beauty radiated both inside and out. Ida’s soul was kind, generous, and unwaveringly devoted to the people she loved. To her family, she was not only a sister, but also a second mother, a protector, and a guiding light.
Though Ida Mae Byers transitioned from this earth on October 26, 2020, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy remain everlasting.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:23
