Obituary

Inez N. Revier, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and an adoring great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully in Grove, Oklahoma at the age of 89. Inez was born Betty Jo Gehl on September 26, 1925 to Joseph Roscoe Gehl and Ruth Glendola (Blackburn) Gehl in Chicago, Illinois. At a young age, she was already a celebrity as she was featured in an advertisement at the local movie theater as the “Baby Face” of Baby Cream. The slogan ran as “You must have been a Beautiful Baby”, and she was. She grew up in Olney, IL but also traveled to Oklahoma to spend time with her Aunt Bee. It wasn’t long before she caught the eye of an adoring “handsome” boy by the name of Rudolph McFall Revier. He would ride his horse over to see her when she would come to visit her aunt and uncle, and eventually he won her heart. Inez and Rudy married on February 22nd, 1944 in Wichita Falls, TX. They spent the better part of the next 40 years in Duncan, OK, with only a short time residing in Rockford, IL. They later made the decision to move to Kansas, OK in Northeastern Oklahoma. Inez worked for a short time at JC Penney’s in Oklahoma City. She would often reference her “work days” when family would visit with her about their own employment issues. Inez, better known to family and friends as “Gigi”, was a devout Catholic and could always be counted on for saying a rosary for a family member in need. She raised her children with values, beliefs, and the knowledge that they could do or be anything they chose. Also of note, she tried to be consistent to her roots in Chicago, as she continued to display her undying loyalty and support of the infamous, ever struggling Chicago Cubs! Gigi & Granddaddy’s home was always “open”, no matter the time of day or night. They were always there to listen, to console, to lend advice or straighten you out. There will never be another “Gigi & Granddaddy”. Inez is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Tony and Mary Anne Revier of Murrieta, CA; daughter and son-in-law: Gayle and Jerry Coyle of Grove, OK; daughter Jann Clark of Branson, MO; six grandchildren: Greg Blackwell; Marianna Blackwell; Gina Parker; Jeff Revier; Kristen Revier; and Matt Clark. Six great-grandchildren: Tiffany Avea; T.J. Avea; Sabrina Avea; Brenda Revier; RaeLynn Revier and Chase Yingst; two great-great-grandchildren: Hunter Fleming and Benjamin Fleming. She is preceded in death by her husband Rudy Revier, and granddaughter Kristi Hohmann. Please leave a condolence and sign the guestbook on this page.
