Obituary

Irene Ashley, age 80, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, surrounded by people that adored her. Irene was born April 7, 1933 in Shamrock, Oklahoma to Virgil Ezra Hickle and Thelma (Earp) Hickle. After high school Irene married J. B. Ashley. She was a homemaker and took wonderful care of their two children. She is survived by; her daughter, Linda Lillard and husband Jack; Son, Joe Ashley; three grandchildren, Shannon Westcott and husband Colin, Austin Carrigan and wife Missy, and Hayden Lillard; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Carrigan, Kaitlyn Matthews, Elias Westcott and Jonas Westcott. Irene is also survived by Sister Joann Carpenter; as well as many nieces and nephews and other loving family and a host of friends that she had made while staying at the Sequoyah Nursing Home in Sallisaw. Irene is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of many years J. B. Ashley in October 2003. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be at Euchee Valley Memorial Park in Cushing, Oklahoma at 1:00 p.m.
