Obituary

James Anthony Smith passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2024.

James “Jim,” was born on October 6, 1952, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was raised in Eufaula, Oklahoma. He graduated attended Eufaula High School where he played football and graduated in 1970. He then attended college before joining the United States Army where he began working as a computer analyst at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. When he returned to Oklahoma he attended and graduated from Wesleyan University.

Jim worked for Citco Petroleum until he retired. He later worked for the Claremore Indian Hospital. Jim was very proud to be a member of the native American Muscogee Creek tribe.

Jim had an extended music family that enjoyed going to musical festivals and small gatherings. He attended the Oklahoma Blue Grass Festival every year. He will be sorely missed by his numerous friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Purna Smith, son, Dylan Smith, brothers Mike Smith and Richard Dabbs, mother, Emma Lola Smith, son in-law, Jimmy Russell, and daughter in-law, Jennifer Russell, along with a host of extended family and friends who all loved and was loved by Jim.

He is preceded in death by his brother Lynn Dabbs.

Visitation for Jim will be held on Thursday, November 21, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home, 2103 E. 3^rd St., Tulsa, OK 74104.

Army Veteran Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2:00 p.m., followed by military honors at 3:00 p.m., at 1300 Luther Lane, Sapulpa, OK.
