Obituary

Jay Patrick “Pat” Sams passed away Thursday, October 10th, 2019 resting peacefully surrounded by family and friends. Pat was born October 4th, 1955 in Joplin Missouri the son of Jay Frank Sams and Joanne Cecilia Fitzgerald (Sams). Pat’s father Jay preceded him in death; Pat is survived by his longtime partner Jodi, his Mother Joanne, daughters Toby and Sara, his son Shane, grandchildren Lexi, Skyla, Savanah, Lane and Charlie. Pat is also survived his sister Melissa and brothers Dan, Andy and Pete.

Pat was born and raised on a small family farm south of Joplin Missouri. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1973 after which he and four close friends joined the US Army where Pat served for 3 years. Pat loved living life to its fullest, working hard, helping family and friends and riding his motorcycle. Pat was always there when you needed him regardless of the chore at hand. Pat did not need much to be happy and content. He was happiest surrounded by family, his pets, a warm fire and a good cup of coffee. Pat will be greatly missed by is family and friends.

Pat will complete his journey home where he will be laid to rest in Jackson Cemetery which lies next to the old family farm south of Joplin Missouri. The family will hold a small graveside service Tuesday, October 29th at 11:00 am. A small gathering will follow at Wilders Restaurant 1216 S Main St Joplin Mo.
