Obituary

A loving father, a very loved son, and a devoted brother, Jeffrey Dewayne Tobey, also known as Ace to some of us, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the age of 47. He passed away at Saint Francis Hospital as he resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jeffrey Dewayne Tobey was born on September 9, 1966 at Saint John Hospital. He was born into unconditional, loving arms of his mother Patricia Ann Tobey and his father Kenneth Eugene Tobey. Jeffrey Dewayne Tobey worked in his father’s family business “Tobey’s Air & Heat” throughout most of his life. He also became a security guard later on in life. He resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma his entire life. Jeffrey Dewayne Tobey enjoyed so many things. He loved making people laugh and pulling pranks. He was a very bright, caring soul with a goofy touch to brighten the day. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. Yet one of the things I believe he enjoyed the most was music. He was very fond of playing his guitar and enjoyed opportunities so much to get to play it for others. His face would light up as he picked the strings. One thing for sure, he never got too big for video games. I know the biggest achievement for Jeffrey Tobey was being given the gift of fatherhood. He loved his children so very much. He was always understanding, forgiving, and accepting of all that came along with us as we grew up. He made sure to go out of his way to show us his love and compassion as our Dad. He never gave up on the faith and hope of what we could become. He was the most amazing dad I could have asked for. He was my best friend. Jeffrey Dewayne Tobey passed away leaving behind two children: his son, Jeffrey Aaron Tobey at the age of 29 and his daughter, Shannon Denyse Tobey at the age of 27. Jeffrey Dewayne Tobey had 4 grandchildren: Cadence Tobey, Alex Tobey, Nathaneil Towns, and Joshua Gene Spencer Back. He has one younger brother named Darrel Tobey. His brother has one son and one daughter. Jeffrey Dewayne Tobey has a father named Kenneth Eugene Tobey and a mother with the name Patricia Ann Tobey. Jeffrey Dewayne Tobey was and is very loved. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. We will always carry you in our hearts, Dad. I promise. –Written by Shannon Denyse Tobey Please sign the guestbook and share a memory.

  2. Colette says:

My first memory of my cousin is his infectious smile. It was always ready to appear on his face at any given moment. I remember when he gave his life to the Lord and wanted to be a preacher. He was so pumped up and excited telling me about it. I remember the joy of his life was being a father and to be a good one was what he lived for. He put himself aside for those precious babies of his. Then when he became a grandfather there was nothing better. It breaks my heart that he died so very young, it breaks my heart that I didn't get to love him more and have him as a common part of my life. In his death he has taught me to show love freely.

  3. Pat & Gene, we're so sorry to hear of your loss and our thoughts and prayers will be with you. We are presently out of the state, but check our news articles regularly. Again we are sorry for your loss.

  4. A man with a great, caring, compassionate heart. A great, big brother to have and loved. This is for you brother, I love you: We watch life pass like water through time, Reflecting on every moment we've left behind, Not ever knowing what each moment may mean, Taking steps we don't know where they'll lead, For granted we take the things that are here, Too quick from our grasp slip away life does, not knowing how near

  5. Dewayne has left a strong legacy with his three grandsons. We are so proud to get the opportunity to raise Joshua. We are so sorry that Dewayne passed from this life so young and Joshua didn't get the opportunity to get to know him well. We want him to know that his grandpa was a good man and welcome any stories we can pass on to Joshua to pass on his legacy. Sunday, when we left the hospital, Joshua said "I know the Tobeys are really sad, we need to pray for them." Out of the mouth of a babe. We love you Shannon.
