JoAnn Davis

December 13, 1934 - March 11, 2014

Mrs. Dorothy JoAnn Davis passed into eternity Tuesday morning at her home in Tulsa, OK. Mrs. Davis was born on December 13, 1934 in Tulsa, OK to George Joseph and Johanna Bertha (Noder) Ruston. Raised in Tulsa, JoAnn attended public school where she played the trumpet. She met her husband when she was just sixteen years old. She and Melvin were married a short time later, with the condition of her father that she finish high school. She did graduate as an expectant mother to her daughter, Melva. JoAnn was an excellent cook, making everything from scratch. She would bake the grandchildren special cakes for their birthdays. She was also quite the seamstress. She sewed clothes for her children and others also. She also enjoyed crotcheting. She and family would gather together to play cards and games at her home. She looked forward to these Friday night gatherings spent with her brothers and other friends. She loved her Lord, attending church regularly and singing praises to God from the choir. After retiring, JoAnn and Melvin enjoyed travel with her brother and sister-in-law in their fifth-wheel. One year they traveled to the World Fair in Nashville. They also enjoyed a 50th Anniversary trip to Hawaii in 2000. JoAnn was a beautiful wife, wonderful mother and precious grandma. JoAnn was known as “Aunt Judy” (nobody still knows how she got that nickname)to her nieces and nephews. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 8AM to 8PM. Funeral Services wil be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1:00PM at the Southeast Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK
