Joyce Lea Zeigler

November 16, 1934 – November 13, 2024

Joyce Lea Zeigler, born on November 16, 1934, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024 at the age of 89. A proud graduate of Tulsa Central High School’s class of 1952, Joyce’s life was filled with immense love, adventures of living around the world, and a deep commitment to serving God and others.

Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late Lena and Ward Means from Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bob Means and Norma Clay, as well as her cherished husband, Lewis Zeigler. She is survived by her children, Teresa Bechtelheimer, Lisa Zeigler, Cynthia Chapman, and Rick Zeigler, who carry on her legacy of kindness and resilience. Joyce was a devoted grandmother to Shannon White, Shane Zeigler, Sean Bechtelheimer, Chris Chapman, Caleb Chapman, Austin Kan, Nicole Chapman, and Mackenzie Lewis-Zeigler. Her loving spirit lives on in her great-grandchildren: Avery Zeigler, Miles Bechtelheimer, Layla Joyce White, Alexander White, Parker Zeigler, Shay Chapman, and Levi Chapman.

Throughout her life, Joyce volunteered with compassion and dedication at Tulsa’s Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa Boys’ Home, and more. Her faith was central to her life, attending Victory Christian Church and Asbury Methodist Church in Tulsa over the years. She lived for the Lord and was sure to share the love of Jesus in her family’s upbringing.

In her own words, Joyce shared with her family, “I lived a beautiful, long life. My goal was to serve and help others, it brought me the most joy. It’s the most wonderful thing anyone could do, so please involve yourself in anything you can do to help others.”

Joyce will be remembered for her generous spirit, kind heart, and the positive influence she had on her family and others. The family kindly requests that you celebrate Joyce’s memory in your own ways, knowing that she is with all of us in spirit. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Joyce Zeigler’s name to CCEOK Porta Caeli House (https://cceok.org/porta-caeli-house) or The Salvation Army.
