In Loving Memory of Joyce Louise McGuire

December 22, 1933 – February 20, 2025

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Joyce Louise McGuire on February 20, 2025. Joyce passed from this life with her beloved boys at her side.

Joyce was born on December 22, 1933, in Stroud, OK to W.H. Harris and Delma (Lawson) Harris.

Joyce attended school in Stroud, where she developed a lifelong passion for books. A voracious reader for her entire life, she enjoyed sharing and exchanging books with her son, Mike.

After graduating from Stroud High School, Joyce pursued a career in nursing at St. John Hospital in Tulsa before marrying Virgil McGuire Jr. and becoming a full-time wife and mother.

Joyce married Jr. in December 1951 and together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. They had 3 children: son Mike, and daughters Jan and Brenda.

Joyce is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Joyce’s legacy is one of love and kindness. She touched the lives of everyone she met, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.

We would also like to express our profound gratitude to the staff at Forest Hills Assisted Living for their loving and dedicated care during Joyce’s final years.

A memorial will be planned at a future date.

So here I stand, both lost and found,

In memories where love abounds,

Though life moves on, her spirit stays,

A guiding light through all my days

I had the pleasure of knowing Joyce at Forest Hills Assisted Living. She was just so much fun to talk to. Blunt and to the point, but the point was usually very funny! She will most certainly be missed by the staff and residents at Forest Hills AL. God Bless you Mike. You were the best son ever.

I was just mentioning Joyce to Jim the other day! She must have been on my mind. Jim and I lived across the street from Joyce and Jr. on Marshall Pl. She was “grandma Joyce” to our daughters. I’m sorry to hear of her passing and would like to know when her memorial service is. She and Jr. were special people to us.
