Obituary

Katherine Ann Handley, age 62, passed away from this life on September 20, 2014 at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Katherine was born February 6, 1952 to Loran and Ruth (Smith) Thompson in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kathy was the owner/operator of the Sandtown Bar located along with Tulsa/Sand Springs line. She enjoyed bartending and visiting with the many clients who were like family to her. She also enjoyed playing games of all kinds and going to the casino. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her own family. Kathy was the foundation of her family. She was the matriarch but also their best friend, and they simply adored her. Kathy was even a mom to many of her children’s friends and neighborhood kids. It seemed like everyone could lean on her. Early this year, Kathy accepted God into her heart. Although Kathy’s passing is hard to accept, this made her children feel a little bit more at peace. She is survived by her loving husband Monty; children: Jack Billingslea, Angela Canady (Mike), Julie Mize (Bruce); grandchildren: Joshua, Danielle, Justin, Michael, Cassandra, Cody and Bruce; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Gracie and Nicholas and Sister Sherry McClain. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Chopper. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and numerous brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 4pm-8pm and Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 9am-8pm at the Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11:00 am at Open Arms Fellowship. 4421 West Fifth Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Please sign the online guestbook for the family.
