Obituary

Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Laudrake Milton, who transitioned to her eternal home on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the age of 71. While our grief is profound, we choose to celebrate the vibrant, joyful life she lived and the noteworthy impact she made as a daughter, sister, cousin, friend, and mother.

A Bright Spirit & A Loving Heart

Born on September 28, 1954, in Pineville, Louisiana, Drake was the cherished daughter of the late Ceanna Evand and Hubert Milton. From a young age, she possessed a radiant spirit that brightened any room. As an older sister, she was a constant source of laughter, support, and unconditional love to her kid sister, Debbie. Her cousins knew her as the heart of the family gatherings -always ready with a warm smile, a comforting word, or a spontaneous adventure. To know Drake was to have a fiercely loyal friend for life.

Vibrant, Warm, Soulful…Our Drake

Drake had a radiant spirit and a beautiful passion for living. Drake truly lived life out loud. She had an immense love for music, and Lord knows she loved to dance! A true animal lover, at one time she proudly owned four horses, a dog, and a cat. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures of shooting pool and creating beautiful custom jewelry pieces for her family and friends. Drake brought a vibrant, unforgettable energy to the world in which she lived.

Above all, Drake was defined by immense beauty, both inside and out. Her extraordinarily generous spirit led her to become a foster mom, making a tremendous difference in the lives of the children who needed it most. Her selflessness was legendary. If a friend needed a dollar and only had one to her name, she would hand it over it without a second thought. Her favorite pastimes were traveling back to Bayou County, Marksville, Louisiana, spending joyful, unforgettable moments with her father, grandparents, siblings, aunts, and uncles, and an abundance of cousins. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious as she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter,m and beautiful moments.

She is survived by her loving aunts, Verlie Milton Brown (Louis) of Chicago, IL; and Norma Evans Stripling of Tulsa, OK; siblings, Deborah Norwood (Larry) of Tulsa, OK, Herbert Milton, Jr. (Berdia) of Fort Worth, TX, Bruce Milton (Regina) of Fresno, TX, Lionel Milton (Janice) of Alexandria, LA, Beverly Barton (Gregory) of Topeka, KS, Drucilla Felton (Arthur) of Chicago, IL, Linda Conway (John) of Fresno, TX, Yolanda Hubbary of Tulsa, OK, Larry Hubbard of Tulsa, OK, and Melvin Evans, Sr. of Muskogee, OK; and godson: Marcus Alasn Gilbert (Regina) of Plano, TX.

Welcoming Her Home

Those family members welcoming her home to eternal rest include her mother, Ceanna Gilbert Evans, stepmother, Hazel Jacob Milton, father Hubert Milton, stepfather, Alvin Evans, grandparents: Really Jones Milton, Earl Milton, Ollie McIntosh Gilbert, and Johnes Gilbert; brothers: Lynnworth Milton, Cartrese Milton, Wendell Milton, and Kenneth Milton; uncles and aunts: George Gilbert (Mary Inez), Ceolia Gilbert, Rufford Milton and Savannah Milton.

She is fondly remembered by her beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, who will deeply miss her even as they celebrate her peaceful homegoing.

A Touch of Purple

In Scripture, the color purple symbolizes royalty and divine majesty. Because it was Drake’s favorite color, the family kindly requests that attendees wear purple in honor of her joyful, majestic spirit.
