Obituary

Laura Maye Waddington, 94, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa passed away peacefully July 10, 2014. Maye was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on October 30, 1919 to John and Della (Morrison) Donham. Maye loved to travel, she had visited 46 of the 48 mainland states and took several chartered bus tours; she especially enjoyed the Canadian Foliage Tour. During her time spent in Oklahoma, Maye worked for the Chickasaw Phone company as well as the Veteran’s home in Ardmore. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion in Tulsa and a lifetime member with the Ladies VFW. Maye loved to crochet and knit, but most of all she loved to help others. She volunteered over 14,000 hours at the Veteran’s clinic in Tulsa and volunteered at the library in Bettendorf when she moved to Iowa. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Waddington; son, John T. Archer; great- grandson, Billy; brother, Roy Donham; daughter in law, Susie; and her parents, John and Della Donham. Maye is survived by her daughter, Jovetta Callender (Charles) of Riverdale, Iowa; son, Jerome Smith of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; grandsons, Charlie Callender, Doug Smith and Richie Smith; great- grandson: Alec Smith; great-granddaughters, Samantha Skiles and Douglas Ann; great-great grandson, Drake Smith; niece, Kathryn Davolt of Las Vegas, Nevada; nephew, Jack “Lucy” Donham; and her beloved cat, Baby. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15 from 4-8pm at Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home. Graveside services are being held 10:00am, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery Tulsa, Oklahoma.
