Obituary

Leon Robinson was the thirteenth child born to Margie (Syas) and Willie Roberson (Robinson) in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on December 16, 1959. Leon attended Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma for most of his formal education, and continued his informal studies from on job training and work experience. He continued to live in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the remainder of his life. Leon met the love of his life, Janice Durant (Robinson) in February of 1990 and although their union lasted only six years, they remained close friends. Leon was employed with Tulsa City-County Library System in maintenance, where he worked hard and diligently for twenty plus years before retiring in 2007. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching movies, cooking, especially on the grill, spending time with family and friends, shopping at his favorite store (Dollar Tree), and just living life to the very fullest. Leon also had the greatest since of humor, a bodacious laugh and huge amount of compassion to help others in need. He was definitely the life of the party. On October 9, 2015, Leon passed away peacefully at age 55 with his loving family by his side. Leon leaves behind to cherish his memory his three sisters: Paulette Thompkins, Ella Jean Roberson, and Mablene Jones; two brothers: Willie Roberson, Jr. and Jimmie Lee Roberson, as well as a great host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.     Leon was a great friend. I enjoyed working with him at Central Library. He will be dearly missed.

  3. A friendly person who would feed anyone who needed a meal. We will always remember his laugh and the "James Brown shuffle"/dance he liked to do. Always talked about his big family.
