Obituary
Lillie Mae McBurl was born. October 2, 1937, to Myrtle Lee Thomas and George McBurl in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She had six siblings, George Jr., Christine, Martha, Eddie Robert, and Peggy. George, Martha and Robert preceded her in death. She married March Finley on December 25, 1955 and to this union seven children were born with three children preceding her in death. Lillie loved and raised Marcia Cornelious (Dean), Phyllis, and Morris Finley who are left to celebrate her life, guidance, and giving spirit. She accepted Christ at a young age and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and brought her children up in the faith. She later met and married Rev. I. Sloan (Popsie) and became the First Lady of Jackson Grove in Coweta, Oklahoma. She later became a devoted member of Macedonia Fellowship overseen by her Pastor and sister Dr. Peggy Owens. While at Macedonia, she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was an inspiration to many of the church members, Lillie always was one who would give you words of encouragement, advice, and love. Many would seek her no non-sense, Word based wisdom. She continued to be a member until her passing from earth to glory. She leaves behind her four children: Marcia Allen (Allen, TX); Dean (Alvertis) Finley (Tulsa); Phyllis (Dwayne) Tapp (Sand Springs); and Morris (Marquetta) (Tulsa). Lillie has 15 grandchildren, with two preceding her in death, and seven great grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Nana and Aunt Lillie”, she had a host of nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 9:00am-8:00pm at Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm, Friday, November 21, 2014 at Crown Hill Memorial Chapel.

We are saddened to hear that Miss Lillie passed. She was a beautiful lady and you have our heartfelt sympathies. We pray for comfort and the blessings of peace during this time for your extended families. Our condolences go out to Marcia, Dean, Morris, Phyllis and other family members. May Miss Lillies home going celebration be a tribute to the Lord.

I hope this encourages you… God Bless and forever hold you in his arms… Aunt Lillie by Ava Finley Jacques When I think of our sweet Aunt Lillie, I see an ora of strength that exceeds the shoulders of her motherly loins. As she stood triumphant over many hurdles and leaped over puddles and ditches that would try to break her stride, she now stands tall, a winner of the race she so gallantly and gracefully won. Being independent, she diligently worked. She build a home for her husband and children. Her wisdom in business and finance was calculated, but biblical principles was her major. Her relationship with God was reflected in her love for those she served. If you needed a kind word, love and compassion, her prayers and her words were guided and led by the Holy Spirit. Her strength was built on faith and the hope that God is. His will be done; HE WILL DELIVER. GOD' S Strength is perfect.. His love purposed for His children, direct descendants and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. God's will be done is truly what she believed. I believe she would say to her daughters and sons , "You are women and men whom I raised and am very proud of. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. You will be successful if you endure and do God's will. Continue onward and you will receive the reward of eternal life. My journey is real because of the love I have for you. Remember the laughter and the joy that God brings when you are together. Continue to love each other. Your truth is… I have always loved you all, and I will be watching over you.
