  1. elmer, gary so sorry for your loss.

  2. Marcella was my second mother when I was growing up. I knew the William's house as well as I knew my own. I can close my eyes and still remember how the furniture was arranged, which room belonged to which family member and if I tried hard enough I could probably remember who sat where at the dining table. I knew that I could knock on the door and enter the house all in the same motion. The knock was a mere formality, the door was always open to me. I knew I could walk into the kitchen and see who was in trouble by glancing at the plaque on the wall. At the sign with a dog house and five little wooden dogs dangling from hooks, coincidentally named Elmer, Marcella, Carolyn, Norma and Gary. The dog house occupant changed frequently, based less on any wrongdoing and more on who happened to be walking by and gave the dogs a shuffle. I knew Marcella fixed "chocolate gravy", that she said "Well, I'll swan , and that she laughed alot. I knew that she loved her family. One night when my parents were bowling and I was left at home with two girl friends, we decided it was a GOOD idea to get in a car with a couple of boys that came careening by the house. Marcella must have been looking out the picture window across the street and decided it was a BAD idea and promptly called the bowling alley and had my parents paged. Her "mother radar" covered me, too, and she did exactly what she should have done. She cared enough to "tell on me." She also cared enough to laugh instead of strangle us when Norma and I decided to play in the dog's house (the real one) along with the momma dog and her puppies. We not only reeked of dog, but we had somehow thought dousing ourselves with Marcella's perfume would mask the smell. It did not. Marcella was a wonderful woman and when I think of her now, I think of her kindness, her patience with us when we were kids, and her laughter. I was sad to hear of her passing, but I am happy to think that she is now at peace and she is safe in the arms of the angels. Much love to all the family and praying for comfort for you all.
