Obituary

Mary Frances (Lucas) Amos, Age 83, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, went to be with Jesus on November the 8th, 2018 after a long fought battle with cancer. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Ira Dean (I.D.) Amos who passed away to his heavenly home on August 30th, 2018.

Mary Frances was born on August 14th, 1935, in Bethel, Oklahoma, to Harvey Franklin and Lois Ellen (Morgan) Lucas. She graduated High School at Colcord, Oklahoma in 1952.

She met the love of her life, I.D., and married him on August 13th, 1952 and they would go on to have 66 glorious years together. They were blessed with two daughters, Janet La. Dean, born in 1954, and Marsha Jane, born  in 1957.

Mary Frances worked for many years at Oral Roberts University finally retiring in 1995.

Mary Frances had an unwavering faith in God and was known as a prayer warrior. She was often called upon to lift her family and friends up by the power of prayer.

She enjoyed reading her Bible daily, canning the gardens bounty grown by her husband, crocheting, collecting recipes, and baking. She was known for her “coffee can” zucchini bread, but her specialty was her pies and cobblers. Her flaky pie crust was a family recipe passed down throughout the generations. Making her “raisin pies” and “blackberry cobbler” to name a few, were always the centerpiece of family dinners.

She especially enjoyed watching her humming birds this past Spring and Summer, and was so sad to see them leave in mid-October. She also enjoyed watching her cooking shows – interestingly enough – her favorite was “Chopped.” She always loved to see crazy concoctions the contestants could come up with in their baskets, just as she was known for doing the same with her cooking.

She was proceeded in death by her dearly loved husband I.D. Amos, her parents, Harvey and Lois Lucas, brother, Wayne Lee Lucas, daughter Marsha Jane Mills-Freeman, and her great grandson Mathew Mills. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Janet and Leo Modaff, granddaughters Michelle Peters, Emily Modaff, and Sarah Surber. Grandsons Joshua Mills, Benjamin Mills, and Anthony Freeman. And great grandchildren Marissa Mills, and Owen Dean Mills. Brothers and Sisters in Law – Jimmie, Phil, and Karen Lucas and Ronald Lloyd, and Lenora Lucas, and Mary Ellen McDowell, as well as, numerous cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mary Frances was a caring and encouraging mommy, sister, granny, and great granny. She will be eternally missed and forever in our hearts.
