Obituary

On a beautiful fall day, a beautiful brown baby girl named Mary Johnie Elizabeth Sykes (Hollis) was born to Walter B Hollis and Mable Hollis (McClellan). She attended Sand Springs and Tulsa Public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1962.

She met and fell in love with Robert Sykes in 1965. They married in 1968 and remained married until his death. No children were born to this union.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Greater Cornerstone until her death.

Mary was a loyal sister, beautiful wife, great aunt, great-great aunt, and the best babysitter on this side of heaven.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mable Hollis (McClellan) husband, Robert Sykes, oldest brother, Alvin Hollis; and her youngest brother, Vincent Price.

She is survived by her sister, Pamela Wilson, and her special brother in love, George Wilson III, whom she loved dearly; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nephew Jahari, known as “Baby J”. She is also survived by her dear friends, Carolyn, Beverly, Ella, and Tina, and a host of other wonderful friends whom she loved.

Though the pain of this loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memory she left behind. Her spirit will live on in every shared story, laughter, and every act of love inspired by her example. We will forever carry her in our hearts.
