If I Should Go

If I should die before the rest of you,Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone.Nor, when I’m gone, speak in a Sunday voice,But be the usual selves that I have known.Weep if you must,Parting is hell. But life goes on,So sing as well.

His Journey’s Just Begun
Don’t think of him as gone awayhis journey’s just begun, life holds so many facetsthis earth is only one.

Just think of him as restingfrom the sorrows and the tearsin a place of warmth and comfortwhere there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishingthat we could know todayhow nothing but our sadnesscan really pass away.

And think of him as livingin the hearts of those he touched…for nothing loved is ever lostand he was loved so much.

I’m Sorry
Mom I’m sorry for all of the tough times I put you throughThere are many things that I did to you that I shouldn’t haveBut I think it’s about time that I say I LOVE YOUMom this is coming from the heartAnd that’s the only way to startSince I was a little boyMy whole life went into a whirlI’m sorry for all of the liesAnd for all the times I made you cryI’m sorry for all of the fights I started with youMom just remember I LOVE YOUAll of the things that I have been going throughMakes me realize what you say is trueMom my whole life is on lockdownEvery day I walk with a frownI just want to be freeAnd live my life the way it used to beMom I’m happy you are there to help me through lifeAnd that is true I don’t have to think twiceMom my whole life went down the drainEver since I went to courtAnd went through all of that pain…….I wish I could go backAnd walk through life on different tracksMom freedom doesn’t come freeEspecially for meMom I have committed many sinsBut I have to stay strongIn my life I haven’t seen many grinsBut I’ll be strong no matter how longI still have a lot to learnNo matter how much my heart burnsMom I’m sorry for all of the fightsEspecially the ones that lasted all nightMom my life is surrounded by a shellThere are not many things I can doI don’t know if you can tellBut I’m not taking it very wellMom I just want to tell youThat I’m sorry for all the hell I put you throughAnd I want you to remember that……..I LOVE YOU!!!!!!

Moments Before
Moments before our walk that afternoon,I realized the path ended too soon. Not long enough to hold his hand, this amazing person, this loving man.Not long enough to engage his eyesand remember his always brimming with pride. Not long enough to stand by his side,as he was by mine after every rough tide. Not long enough to laugh with him still, after every bad joke, after every tough hill. Not long enough to walk with this man,who has taught me to be the person I am.Not long enough as we walked by his mom,to thank them both for my wonderful life.In all the walks I’ve taken in my life, first as a girl and now as a teen,I’ll remember that walk I took with my fatherand always wish it could have been longer.
