Obituary

Michael (Mikey) Lavelle Lowe affectionately known as “First Born” by all his family members, was born July 10, 1955 to Petra and Lavelle Lowe in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He gave his life to Christ at an early age, attending Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Michael was a product of Tulsa Public Schools, attending Bunche and Woods Elementary School, Marion Anderson Junior High and graduating with the almighty class of 1973 from Booker T. Washington High School. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in education.

Mike loved bowling, hanging out and dining with his family and friends. He was very partial and bias to anything done at the University of Oklahoma.

Upon education from OU, Mike started employment with the TriCeta Program as an employment counselor, finding jobs and training for the young men and women in North Tulsa. He continued that employment for about ten years.

Michael then decided to become a school teacher to help the young people in Tulsa. He was employed by Tulsa Public Schools at Celia Clinton Elementary School for approximately thirty years, teaching 2nd and 3rd grade math and science. Mike’s classes consistently maintained the highest test scores at the school, earning him a trip to Boston to study improvements that could made in the classrooms. Mike was a dedicated teacher, a stern task maker, and a tutored children after school at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church until his health started to decline.

Michael gave anyone and everyone his time, money and services. He was very well known and loved by all. Mike also did taxes when he graduated college until his health declined.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Petra and Lavelle Lowe. Mike left behind to cherish his memory are his sisters: Rita McKenney, Wanda Buchanan and Francine Lowe; brothers: Marvin (Gail) Lowe and Marcoe Theriot; nephews: William (Nantha) McKenney, III, Marvin Lowe, Jr. and Khalil Theriot; nieces: Melody (Rocky) Walls, Mylanda (Frank) Mullins, Jazmine Moss, Marquel Theriot and Makaya Theriot; great nieces and nephews: Dominique, William, Indiya, Sni, Chance, Baileigh, Rocky Jr., R.J. and Avery.

Hi Mr. Lowe It's me Brenton it been a long time I haven't see you since you left at Celia Clinton I was in your classroom We have a wonderful time together at Celia Clinton also I'll never forget the last time I saw you me and my mom we saw you coming in albertson store I would never forget when you saw me at that Albertson's store I remember those words Hi Brenton and I said Hi Mr. Lowe And that was the last time I saw you I didn't know you were alive over these years I've been grown up Graduate from middle school went to high school graduate from high school Got my 1st job I really wish I got the chance to see you in person It's been so long you haven't seen me How grown I got and older I got I'm very shocked that you passed away You never got a chance to see me i grown so much I never got to chance see you Again For the very last time Before Or after you passed away I never got a chance to go to your funeral But no one told me that you were passed away I had to find out on the website I was shocked Mr Lowe if you remember My name is Brenton I was there with you at Celia Clinton in your classroom and i saw you at alberson's store years ago I hope you remember me in your memory And my mom too My mom looks to same Nothing's change but I change I grew up Mr. Lowe if you're looking down I just want you to know I'm grown up Still working My mom looks the same and she enjoys her retirement Spending time with me And I really miss you Mr Lowe You are the best teacher that I ever had I wanted to thank you for everything and I met you been in your classroom we had a wonderful time together and we last time we saw each other it was at the Albertson store years ago I will never forget those words Hi Brenton and I said Hi back to you God bless you Farewell my favorite teacher
