Obituary

Michael was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky to Louis and Katherine Long, the third of four children.

He graduated  from Ambassador College in 1973 with a degree in Communications. Soon after, he married Vicki Cunningham and had two children, Andrew and Kimberly.

He moved his family to Richmond, Virginia and then to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was hired as director of UNC  Charlotte’s Telecommunication department and ordained as a Deacon in his church.

After his divorce, he spent his years building his own business, taking his children on adventures, and travelling the world.

He enjoyed playing golf with his friends, studying the bible, pursuing truth, and having long, interesting talks with friends and strangers.

His life was full and rich and anyone who met him could attest to the strength of his character, his trust and dedication to the Word of God, and the fullness of his heart.

  2. Jeff Bogue says:

The world is not as good without Uncle Mike.

  3. Dear Andy and Kim,
I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I hope in time the happy memories will outweigh the sadness from his passing.

    Much love to you both,
    Aunt Kerri

  4. Kenya Heap says:

Mike was a dear friend to both Tom and me. We had many good memories in college and the years after. He stood for Right and fought for Truth. His sincerity, kindness, and happy spirit touched many lives. We will miss him, thankful to have known him and comforted in the assurance that his spirit is now with God.

  5. Ben Elijah says:

Mike was a lover of truth, something I found out late. He was into the most important things and was so kind and honorable. But he was bold enough to disagree after listening to someone’s point. He was real and stood for what he believed. I am not the judge but I think he belongs to Yahoshuah. I connected with him more than anyone in his age group.
