Obituary

The melody of the life of Charlie Mary Robinson-Thomas began on the 27th day of June, 1933, in Nowata County, Oklahoma, when the union of the late Charlie and Ida Robinson was blessed with their first precious child. Her early years were spent in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where she attended Booker T. Washington High School. In 1949, she was united in marriage to Farris Thomas in Pawhuska. They were married for 15 years before Farris preceded her in death in 1964. Mother Charlie spent most of her adult life in Chicago, Illinois before returning to Oklahoma in 1977, where she gave her life to Christ. She became a Minister of the Gospel, devoting her time to teaching and preaching the Word of God. She was a Mother of the church who worked with the Women’s Minstries Auxiliary. She was a member of Macedonia Fellowship Ministries and Victory Christian Center. At the young age of 60, Mother Charlie proudly enrolled at the Tulsa Techonology Center where she received her Nurse’s Aide Certification. Mother Charlie was also a remarkable seamstress, incredible cook, and a talented unknown poet. Mother Charlie’s life creed was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Although she is gone, Mother Charlie’s symphony of life continues as she walks through God’s Beautiful Garden composing another stanza for Heaven’s Orchestra. Mother Charlie is survived by her Children Charles Robinson (Chicago), Joyce Brown (Tulsa), Ike Robinson (Iowa), and Dr. Gaylan (Shirly) Brown Sr. (Texas); Grandchildren SFC Natasha (SFC Reginald) Johnson (Kansas), Peggy (Rev. Ru’Sean) Hardman (Tulsa), Gaylan (Stephanie) Brown Jr. (Tulsa), and Angela (Orlando Person) Huseman (Tulsa; 15 Great-grandchildren, one Great-great-grandchild, and sister-in-law Irma Williams (Tulsa). She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. 1. To the family of Ms. Charlie. I am the daughter of Viola Ross and a member of VCC. My mother loved your mom and they would talk on the phone for hours, even after my mom moved back to Checotah. She was very special to us and a beautiful lady.We will miss her, but we know to be absent in this body is to be present with the Lord.

  2. With our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Charlie Thomas. We hope that everyone shares a favorite memory of Charlie and that this memorial brings the life experiences shared with her to her family and friends. The Staff at Butler-Stumpff
