Nathaniel Johnson, Jr. was born on October 3, 1947, the second of four children to Joan (Calvert)Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson, Sr. Nathaniel was known as “Brother” to his family. Later, his nieces and nephews called him “Nick Nate”.

Nathaniel was educated in the segregated public school system of Tulsa, culminating with his graduation from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1965. Nathaniel accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at the historical Vernon. AME Church under the pastorship of the late Rev. Ben H. Hill.

Nathaniel was extremely smart, possessing an exceptional aptitude for advanced mathematics and the sciences. He took this ability to Oklahoma State University, where he was studying Aerospace engineering, when the draft came. Nathaniel answered the call and was transported to Vietnam, where he saw combat as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Upon returning home, he lived his life as a “Wounded Warrior”.

Nathaniel was an excellent tutor for the field of mathematics for his nieces, nephews, and neighborhood friends.

Nathaniel was predeceased by his parents, one sister Patricia Johnson) Lockridge, brother-in-law Calion Lockridge, Sr., brother, Lawrence Johnson, stepfather, Marion Taylor, and one niece, Anastasia Lockridge. He is survived by his sister, LaVerta Johnson) Littles, brother-in-law, Ronald Littles, Sr., sister-in-law, Kay Pouncil; nieces, Patricia (Lockridge) Raymond, Grace Lockridge, Nichole (Littles) Henderson, Candace Johnson) Nash; nephews, Calion Lockridge,]r., Ronald Littles, Jr., along with many cousins, grand- nieces, grand- nephews, and one great-grand-nephew.
