Obituary
Odelia Marie Antwine – Buggs peacefully gained her wings on August 13, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of eighty-two.
Odelia was born to Hester and Isaac Antwine on April 30, 1941, in Nuyuka, Oklahoma. She attended elementary school in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The family later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Odelia graduated from the historic Booker T. Washington High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1962.
Odelia was gifted with an ear to hear music and began playing the piano at St. Andrew Baptist Church when it was on Marshall at the age of 15 under Rev Ferguson and played until she left for college. It was a pleasure for Odelia to say she played with Deltessa Gillespie, a musical genius who helped her with her musical ministry. During her time in college, she continued to play the piano for sorority events.
Odelia met and married Levi Terry Buggs, after returning home to Tulsa, of whom she was blessed with forty-six years of marriage. While continuing her music ministry passion, Odelia worked as an LPN for 15 years with Saint Francis Hospital. She was passionate about knowledge, so her journey led her to sewing, cooking, pottery, insurance, and rental property rehab. Odelia was a woman of words if you were in her presence, you would receive great conversation and knowledge on the bible, history, or politics.
Odelia was an active and dedicated Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church member and played the piano for approximately 40 years, always searching for appropriate songs for the choir. She played until her health failed.
Her husband, Levi Buggs; daughter, Cynthia (Soodie) Buggs; mother and father, Hester and Isaac Antwine; and sister, Betty Antwine all preceded her in death.
Odelia was a mother of four children and leaves to cherish her memory are Pamela (Jerry) Minor, Cynthia Buggs, Randy Buggs of Tulsa, and Christi Olaosebikan of Texas. She is the grandmother to Franchelle Buggs, Reginald (RJ) Hawkins, Eniola (Matthew) Olaosebikan, Ayoola (Jacob) Olaosebikan, and Bailey Odelia Bugg; She has one great-granddaughter, Deyonshay Commander.
