Obituary

Rae Jeanne Browning Darby was born to Norma Jean and Walter Rayford Browning on December 5, 1948 at the Western Oklahoma State Hospital, in Clinton, OK. She grew up in Foss, Ok. playing on the train tracks and looking for arrowheads. As a child she picked cotton with her parents. The family moved to Tulsa, OK for her father’s work, and Rae spent her remaining school years there. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1968. Rae married Jack Roy Darby jr. In 1968 and they moved to Los Angeles, CA. She moved back to Tulsa after the birth of her first child, Windi. Not long after, she gave birth to Eli Jason, her son in 1970.

She worked at many places including Telecheck, St John’s Hospital in Respiratory Therapy and at Perry’s. Rae Jeanne Darby was the neighborhood Mom, Girl Scout Troop Leader, and was very adventurous. She loved road trips, visiting with her family, gardening and genealogy. Rae was the light of the family, so funny and smart. She raised five grandchildren, teaching them crafting and helping with homework. Rae created a world of love for all who loved her.

She passed away on January 21, 2026. She is proceeded in death by her parents Walt and Jean Browning and her husband, Jack Roy Darby.

Rae is survived by her children Windi Darby Williams and Eli Jason Darby, her grandchildren Amanda Theda Michelle Darby, Willow Ann, Autumn Raine, Katherine Violet and Skyler Blue Williams and her great grandchildren Winter and Alexis Baxter and Nova and Rae Lea Brown.

We are devastated by her passing and will strive to keep her memory alive. Rae Jeanne Darby was so much fun and will be missed so much, forever.
