Obituary

Reverend Donna Colburn was born in Oklahoma City on July 21, 1934. She passed away September 9, 2013 at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by family and friends after a seven year battle with Alzheimer’s. Donna was married to J.A. Colburn in 1951. In 1956 they moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she raised her daughters, hosted a daily television show, and in 1965 became Mrs. Texas, among many other titles. Donna and J.A. eventually found their way back to Tulsa, where she became a minister for the Disciples of Christ Church in 1994. She is survived by her daughters Christie Colburn and Kellie Colburn, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a multitude of other friends and family. 1. We offer our deepest sympathies on the loss of Donna Lou Colburn. Please offer a favorite memory of Donna on this memorial to share more of her life experiences with family and friends.

  2. Donna was a wonderful friend and minister during the years she was at Sperry Christian Church. I think of her often. She was there for me when my parents died 10 years ago and I was so grateful. Our deepest sympathy.

  3. Donna was so fun to work with on various Disciples Women's activities. She always had a smile and kind word. Our prayers are with you.

  4. Katie Mckee says:

Donna was such a great lady and taught me so much growing up. She became great friends with my grandmother, Doris Burks, at Rogers Heights and she did so much to help her out in any way she could. Donna will be greatly missed!

  5. Janet Brook says:

Donna was the sweetest, kindest woman I've ever known. When people would show up at our church with a sad story, she never once tuned them away empty handed, or asked if they were legit or not. "God knows their circumstances better than I do," was her philosophy. She was a shining example to us all.
