Obituary

Richard E. Barnett, 83, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma passed away October 16, 2016 in Tulsa. He was born March 8, 1933 in Tulsa to William Andrew and Viola Cecelia (Moreland) Barnett. Richard Barnett was a man of God, a husband, a father and a grandfather. His passions included, family, his fruit trees and studying God’s word.  The most memorable moments in his life all involved at least one of those three elements.

While not an educated man, his Bible knowledge equaled that of many scholars and he became a walking Bible encyclopedia, with family, friends and even some ministers asking him to share his knowledge and perspective.

In his later years he was the most doting of grandfathers.  The joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who came to know him as the most gentle and loving man in their lives.

Today, Richard is enjoying heaven, re-united with his loving wife and many friends and family members who had preceded him.  We look forward to the day we can join him and make that reunion complete.Richard is survived by his children: Rick (Carolyn) Barnett, Brenda (Aaron) Cole, Glenda Barnett, Stephen (Rhonda) Barnett; grandchildren: Rhaposdy, Richie, Ashlee, Bradley, Collin, Victoria; great grandchildren: Desiree, Madison, Elijah, Amie; siblings: Audrey Barnett, Uldine Sallee, Mildred Bewley, Jimmy Barnett along with loving friends.

  1. I have so many fond memories of time spent with Uncle Richard and Aunt Amie. He was witty and sweet, always. The last time I saw him, he took my face in his hands and said, "Patricia, you look good!". I knew then that his eyesight was failing! I loved him dearly.
