Obituary

Robert E. (Bob) Martin passed away in Tulsa March 28, 2026 at the age of 92.  He was born August 11th, 1933 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Ernestine Smith and Robert O. Martin, both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betsy and infant son Andrew Paul.  Bob graduated from Cascia Hall Prep, Oklahoma State, and the University of Tulsa Law School. He served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Bob married Betsy Temple in 1959 and they were together until her death in 1992. They were both very passionate about volunteering in the Tulsa community and Bob did a tremendous amount of Pro Bono work for area non-profits during his long career as an attorney. In 2019 he received the Lifetime Achievement award from Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry.

Bob also loved sports and coached his kids and their friends in baseball, football and basketball for many years. He would still get called ‘Coach Martin’ years later when he would be recognized by his former players.

Bob was proud of his Osage heritage and served on the Osage Minerals Council and represented the tribe in legal matters regarding tribal sovereignty and self-governance.

Bob leaves behind 3 children: Frances, Chris and Patrick (Ashley) and 6 wonderful grandchildren: Lauren, Conner (Bailey), Lucy, Betsy, Emma, and Toby Martin.

Service will be held Saturday, April 11 at 1:00 in the chapel at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa.
