Obituary

Robert L. Woodard Jr. was born October 8, 1945, to Robert (Bobby) Woodard and Laverne Felder Woodard, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He attended the Tulsa Public School System, graduating from Booker T. Washington in May 1963. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Military, serving in the Airforce branch for four years.

In 1963 Robert married his high school girlfriend, Patricia Richardson, and to that marriage beautiful baby girl was born, Robin Annette Woodard.

In 1968 Robert met Margaret Delores Mason and they became close friends and married on May 6, 1977, and to this union two sons were born, Robert Woodard III and Marcell L. Woodard. Over the course of 50 years, Robert (Plookie) married Margaret D. Woodard, the love of his life three different times.

At the age of 9 yrs. old, Robert started to attend St. Augustine Catholic Church, where he began his quest for seeking God and learning about the word of God. Later, Robert was introduced to Rev. J.C. Gilkey Pastor of Timothy Baptist Church by Terry W. Shannon Through Terry’s witnessing and Pastor Gilkey’s guidance he accepted Christ and was baptized, January 22, 1977, and became a faithful member and servant of Timothy Baptist Church. He served as a bus driver janitor, and Deacon. He later moved on to Greenwood Christian Center where he served as an Usher and a parking lot attendant. After his tenure there, he moved to New Heights Christian Center and was a faithful servant there until moving to Mesa, Arizona. He lived in an Assistant Livii1g where he attended & taught bible classes. After living ten (10) years in Arizona, Robert returned to Tulsa, OK where be joined New Heights Christian Center, under Pastors Terry W. & Barbara A. Shannon. He served as an Usher, Deacon, Intercessory and Prayer Warrior. He loved sharing and discussing the Bible and God’s Word.

Robert began his work career upon his discharge from the Air Force in 1967. He worked on various jobs for several years. Upon gaining employment at Rockwell International/ Boeing, he maintained employment there for over 25 years. He worked as a Riveting attendant and a Line Supervisor. After one year of retirement, Robert was faced with advanced Glaucoma and did not have the capacity to see. At the onset of his blindness, he utilized assistive technologies and vision rehabilitation services to assist him in life adjustments. Even though he lost his physical vision, but God gave him a spiritual gift that allowed him to utilize his spiritual vision, and he was able to teach the scriptures and share God’s word and fulfill God’s calling. He thoroughly enjoyed studying teaching and sharing Gods word with others.

Robert found Joy in recording old school music for himself and others, listening to gospel music, studying the Bible and sharing his knowledge, as well as sharing his music.

Loved ones who precedes Robert in death- Father, Robert Woodard, Sr. (Bobby) Mother, Laverne Woodard, grandparents, his favorite Aunts, Fannie Parks, Jackie Sanders, and Betty Ward, four brothers-in-law, Stefan Caddy, Emmanuel Caddy, William Brown and Carlos Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy: Wife, Margaret Mason Woodard (Tulsa, OK), (daughter) Robin Woodard-Smith (Rodney) Smith, Bloomfield, Connecticut (sons) Robert Woodard III Mesa, AZ and Marcell Woodard(Leslie) Compton California; Brother: Delbert Woodard Sr. (Andre) (Tulsa, Ok.) One devoted mother-in-law, Marcella Clark of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and three sisters-in-law: Marcine Caddy, Tulsa Oklahoma. Wileene Allen(Earl), Dallas, TX. Annette Brown Ealy (Robert), Encenio, CA. Two brothers-in-law, Maurice Johnson, Atlanta, GA., Reuben Brown, Tulsa, OK. He is further survived by two aunts, Marlene Wayne of McKinney, Texas, and Eddie Mae Mack of Murrieta, California, who each held a special place in his heart. His legacy continues through his thirteen grandchildren: Erica (OK), B1ittany (OK) DeAndre (AZ), Chasity (AZ), Dominique (AZ) Yasmine (AZ) Tamarr (AZ), Robert IV (AZ) Jared, Kalen, Shaina, (CT) Aria, and Mosiah (CA). He was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy: James and Jeremiah(Texas) Miliyana, Dean II, Zariah, Heavenly (AZ), Nyla (OK) Skye (OK), Ariyah (OK), Silas and Ezra (AZ). He also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends all of whom were touched by his kindness, wisdom, humor, and enduring love.

Though his earthly journey has ended, the impact of his life remains-woven into the memories, stories, and hearts of those who loved him. His presence will be deeply missed but his legacy of love, strength, and faith will live on forever.
