Obituary

Visitation for Mr. Woods will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Memorial Chapel, 2103 E. 3rd St., Tulsa, OK 74104.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, 3:00 p.m., at Stanley’s Memorial Chapel, 3959 E 31st St, Tulsa, OK 74135, followed by interment at Rolling Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Rodney Dean Woods, 71, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

Rod was born on October 13, 1953, to Joy and Glenn Woods and was one of six children. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa. In his younger years, he loved playing sports and working on muscle cars.

Rod was an entrepreneur who built a career in painting and drywall. He was also well known in the Tulsa area as a country dance club DJ, “Rockin’ Ramblin’ Rod.” Music was a major part of his life, and his DJ work left a lasting impression on many.

Rod enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—yard work, decorating for Christmas, shopping for deals at pawn shops, and riding his motorcycle. He had a big sweet tooth and was rarely without a Coke, root beer, or his favorite candies like Sweethearts or Hot Tamales. He loved popcorn, movies, and a good steak—especially if someone else was buying. He also had a knack for turning any car ride into a concert, drumming on the dashboard and playing air keyboard.

More than anything, Rod loved his family. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather who spent as much time as he could with his children and grandkids.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Joy and Glenn Woods, and his sister Molly. Rod also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss his humor, generosity, and love for life.

He will be remembered most as “Papa Rod”—a title he held with pride and love.

He is survived by his children: Suzy (Matt) Blizzard, Geoff (Aubrey) Woods, Bobby (Mykah) Snodgrass, Casey (Ashton) Woods, Cody (Morgan) Woods, Tim (Karissa) Woods; along with grandchildren Summer, Bentley, Ember, Briar, Harper, Gannon, Mason, Tucker, Kynslee, Braylon, Bobby, Ruby, Levi, and baby Snodgrass.
