Obituary

“Gene” Lessel was born on December 17th 1928 to Mr. & Mrs. Rossor Lessel in Poteau, OK. He was raised there in Poteau & also in McAlester, OK. He married Norma Tucker Lessel & then moved to reside in Turley, OK until later moving to Tulsa, OK. They were happily married as they enjoyed living & making a Christian home together until her passing in 1988.

Gene graduated high school in McAlester, OK. He then attended Baptist Missionary School & then went on to attend classes at Tulsa University. He enjoyed working a lifetime career as master craftsman wielder & became a union steward. The majority of his life’s work was for Unit Rig in Tulsa, OK.

At a young age Gene received the Lord as his personal Lord & Savior. He was thoroughly & very much encouraged by his mothers loving investment of her living testimony as she nourished & taught him the tenants of the faith at home; as well as regularly attending church together. He went on to love the Lord Jesus while living & walking out a full life of sharing his faith & testimony compassionately to & with all & whomsoever would voluntarily be his patient audience.

Brother Gene & Jimmy Lee Long developed a long lasting fellowship & friendship of over twenty years, residing together, sharing & learning from greater depths of study in the Word of God. All of the normal life challenges were met as a faithful & prayerful team together until Gene’s heavenly promotion on August 4th, 2021.

Gene leaves each of us with countless memories & testimonies of joyful praises; as he has finished his race well & now eternally lives & rests in the glorious peaceful presence of His Savior, Jesus the King of kings & Lord of lords. Amen
