Obituary

Roy Hicks was born on May 13, 1950 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Edward and Almetta Hicks. Roy was the youngest of 4 children born to this union. Roy accepted Christ at an early age.  Everyone knew and loved him and later called him by his nickname T-Roy.  Roy received his education from the Tulsa Public Schools, graduating from Central High School’s class of 1969. After finishing high school, he went on to continue his education at Northeastern State College. Soon after college, Roy married Patricia Johnson and to this union 2 children were born, Kendra and Fatai. Roy had a passion for cooking and later became a chef.  Roy worked for several exclusive private country clubs, and later went on to retire as a cook for the Tulsa Public Schools. Roy enjoyed being around his family and friends. A few of his pastimes include sitting on the porch drinking coffee and watching the birds, fishing, hunting, golf and playing a game of Dominoes. He was a champion of this game … when anyone sat down to play him they knew they were in a game of defeat.

At 67 years of age, Roy Hicks transitioned to eternal glory on Wednesday June 7, 2017. His light has been extinguished from our lives. We are comforted in our faith that a loving and benevolent God has received our dear T-Roy, into His loving care where he has reunited with his loved ones who preceded him in death. Welcoming him home is his mother Almetta, his father Edward, his step-father Clem, his brother David and his sister Velma.  Remembrance of his life will be forever cherished by his daughter Kendra (Kvernes) Wilson of Broken Arrow, OK; his son Fatai (LaTasha) Hicks of Moore, OK; his former wife Patricia (his Patrick) of Tulsa, OK; his sister LaVada (Louis) Vann of Tulsa, OK; his grandchildren Antoine, Fatai II, Ariana, Zariah, Kaden, Shiloh and Jada; a special niece Tia Vann of Tulsa, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.

Dear Hicks Family: Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one, Roy. May you find comfort in the words written at Acts 24:15, where God promises to bring back to life those we have lost in death by means of a resurrection. In the future He wil also eliminate our enemy, death.(Revelation 21:4) This gives us the wonderful hope of being reunited with our loved ones, forever. Until then, I hope the memories of Roy and these promises from God comfort you in the days to come.
